Dear Students,
In an effort to improve trust on
campus, the Barnard Task Force for Campus Climate and Expression – a
group of students, faculty, staff, and trustees committed to bettering
campus climate – would like to provide a way to amplify student
voices. With this in mind, we invite you to take part in a 30-45-minute
focus group that will help us provide President Rosenbury and other
senior leaders with specific recommendations on topics addressing the
residential halls, including engagement with peers in communal living
spaces, the door decoration/adornment policy, and challenges and
opportunities for community building in the future.
We recognize that many feel that free
expression has been limited in the residence halls and there have been
increased reports of antisemitism, Islamophobia, and racism. We know
many students have not been feeling heard, and we are hoping to find a
better path forward.
We value your voice in this work. Your
participation will be confidential and your name will not be shared
beyond the DEI staff (Joanne Delgadillo, Chief of Staff and Arun Bryson,
Administrative Manager). Once in the focus group you will be given a
code to replace your name. If you have questions please reach out to dei@barnard.edu.
If you would like to sign up, please sign up here. The DEI manager will be in contact with you for scheduling.
Sincerely,
The Campus Climate and Expression Task Force
